Welcome to Graeagle, home to the original "Box Factory Mill" for the California Fruit Exchange. This building (The Graeagle Restaurant), was the center of entertainment for the mill workers, housing the cookhouse, dance hall, movie theater, and bar. The Graeagle Restaurant opened in 1958 and Virgie Williams was one of the original waitresses. After sixteen years and two owners , Virgie purchased the business with her tips she saved while working here. Virgie loved the restaurant business and was well known for her charming wit and her ability to harass the best! After 25 years of dedication Virgie sold the business to her daughter and son in law, Candace and Ed Ward in January 2000. To this day Candi and Ed keep Virgie's tradition of "good ol' fashioned cooking" alive. Graeagle Restaurant has been family owned and operated for over 40 years. Almost all of our employees are family members. Virgie passed away April 15, 2006. She will always be missed and well remembered by all who were privileged to know her. Please enjoy your stay, and welcome to beautiful Plumas County.
